Mythological Travel Test I: Owls

Single-channel video,
In collaboration with Michael Pisano

Conceived as part of a night of live performance at Space Gallery in Pittsburgh, looping improvised sound weaves a legend of jealousy, betrayal, and guilt between two owl brothers. Beginning as a call and response between the living owl brother's banjo and the echoing voice of the ghost owl, both songs slowly build strength and merge at the apex of the performance, creating a jangling, primeval cry. Televisions, displaying psychedelic, abstract animations of beaks, feathers, and other assorted bird parts, aid in the building of a mythology, along with a stage constructed of decorated cardboard, hand-painted knick knacks, and a variety of digital print media. This video serves as documentation of the piece, attempting to capture the essence of the live performance as well as incorporate the abstract animations.
